The Story

Potence Pivotante Wall Light by Nemo is a bold, utilitarian design by Charlotte Perriand, conceived in 1938 and inspired by the boom of sailboats.

Formed from two black tubular steel sections in an inverted ‘L’, the fixture features a rotating arm that pivots nearly 180° along the horizontal axis. Its open design leads the electrical wire from the switch to the bulb, embracing the raw functionality of early modernist lighting.

Designed to offer direct light exactly where it’s needed, Potence Pivotante suits minimalist interiors, creative studios, and spaces where wall lighting becomes a design feature.

A classic example of form following function, this wall light reflects Perriand’s enduring commitment to accessibility, movement, and material integrity.
